** FEMA HELP **
Our house was flooded during Harvey and we were offered/ approved for the Fema grant. We used it, we repaired our home and unlike most I actually kept receipts. They are hitting my husbands credit saying we owe that back? We’ve never dealt with any kind of government assistance like this, can someone help me figure out how to get this resolved. We’ve appealed it, written letters, called, submitted documentation of where the funds go and they’re basically saying they’re going to start taking tax money when taxes are filed.

My apologies if this isn't the proper avenue to reach people -- but I work at the US Commission on Civil Rights and we're currently investigating FEMA's response to Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Maria.
We held a public briefing on Oct 21 to collect testimony regarding the disaster and recovery efforts. And we're also soliciting public… Meer comments from survivors of the hurricane.
If you're interested in submitting something for the record -- which will help inform our report (that will be sent to Congress and the President) we would love to hear from you! We're accepting written statements until Nov. 30 at harveybriefing@usccr.gov. Happy to answer any questions and thank you!

The ice truck en route to The Esplanade Mall has been delayed due to circumstances beyond our control, and the ice distribution has been rescheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday outside Macy’s. However, distribution of water and frozen meat and produce is now underway in front of the Macy’s at the mall.

LET’S HELP NEW ORLEANS: I’m workin all day Mack at Gallery Furniture to mobilize a lot of resources starting tomorrow morning to NOLA. 6006 N Freeway. We need 18-wheelers (with drivers) to make runs there & back. We need everything you can spare: diapers, formula, water, shelf stable foods, ice chests (any size), ice, gift cards, you know the… Meer drill. Staging trucks at 9am Monday, deliveries at 10am.
